Dr. Katherine Funke is a Dubuque native who graduated in the top five of her class at Hempstead High School. After being named a National Merit Finalist, she earned a B.S. in biology and B.A. in philosophy from Iowa State University graduating summa cum laude. While at Iowa State, she worked as a philosophy 201 TA.

Dr. Katherine then went on to earn her doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic, the fountainhead of the profession, graduating magna cum laude. While at Palmer she worked as a dissector, and spent as much time as she could in the outreach clinic, thus allowing her to see more serious and unusual cases than generally seen in the academic health center where most students completed the majority of their clinical requirements. After completing her clinical requirements ahead of schedule, she went on to precept with a doctor in the field before graduating as a full fledged doctor of chiropractic.

Dr. Katherine Funke completed the 108 hour Professional Applied Kinesiology Course and passed her certification exam while still at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. Katherine went on to assist in teaching the course multiple times.
